My dad used to say that if a dish was lacking a little “je ne sais quoi” you just needed to “add a little ginger”… it was a phrase that was often heard in our kitchen as a child. And you know what, he was right!
It can be used in sweet or savoury dishes and with its electric and zingy flavour it always gives a dish the little kick it needs.
***TOP TIP***
Keep ginger in the freezer and grate it into dishes straight from frozen –Â You will never run out of fresh ginger

Ginger has been proven to have so many health benefits, some include;
- It is an aniemetic (stops you feeling sick)
- It prevents flatulence
- It is great in tea to help relieve symptoms of colds
- It improves the absorption and assimilation of essential nutrients in the body
- It helps improve the immune system
Now the reason I am banging on about ginger is because my friend presented me with this..
If you have never had the pleasure of trying this shortbread, YOU MUST! Â It is is what ginger and shortbread were invented for. The combination of crunchy shortbread and spicy ginger are heavenly.
I had mine served up to me slightly warmed from the oven with a dollop of ice cream on top…do it!
