Here at Taste the Love I am in full swing of Summer event catering madness, so I thought I would share with you my top canapes I have been creating this summer.
Canapes are such a fabulous addition to a party or gathering. I make sure that mine are packed full of colour and flavour, they may be mini but you want maximum impact.
Event Catering Canapes
By far the my most popular canape this summer has been my marinated halloumi with basil and red onion chutney. So much colour and packed with flavour. A real winner with all my guests and not just the vegetarians. Wrapping the halloumi in basil leaves really lifts the dish and explodes with summer freshness.
Pulled Pork Tartlet
I marinate pork shoulder in red onion chutney, smoked paprika, english mustard, honey and white wine vinager and then slow cook it for 24 hours until the meat is falling apart. I then top it with a fresh crunchy slaw and micro coriander for a real eye pleasing canape. These tartlets are a real crowd pleaser.
Pesto & Mediterranean Vegetable Crostini
These are so popular because who doesn’t love pesto, right? I make homemade pesto without cheese, this means that they are suitable for vegans and still be so full of flavour. The ones here are with vegan pesto, diced red pepper, courgette, nigella seeds and topped with feta.
Tatiki Flat Iron Steak
You may not give 110 guests fillet steak for their main at your event, but you can give them steak as a canape. As with all of my catering I use only the best ingredients, all of my meat comes from Frosts Butchers, which makes these marinated steaks a bite of heaven. Marinated for 24 hours in soy, mirin, ginger, garlic & chilli and topped with black and white sesame seeds, they are so juicy and delicious.
