Cooking for someone special…

Cooking for people is my passion, I love cooking people their “new favourite food” They may not know it yet, but I know that they will love it. When I know the people eating my food are happy with full bellies, I know my job is done.

Sunday food.. Cooking for someone special

There is always an occasion for cooking something special in my house. This weekend it was Mother’s Day and I didn’t know what I was more excited about, seeing the family or getting to try out a new recipe. I have been wanting to roast ham hocks for a while but have never quite got round to it, I have also been threatening to make my dad’s famous sticky ribs for the in-laws for quite some time, so this weekend was an occasion for DOUBLE MEAT.
Jerk Roasted Ham Hock

On the Menu:

Roasted ham hocks in a jerk sauce with clementines and onions (a Jamie Oliver recipe)
Sticky pork ribs  (this is my dad’s secret recipe..but i’m sure if you ask nicely enough I will give it to you!)
Coleslaw with caramelised onions and yoghurt dressing
Chunky wedges

For dessert
Spiced carrot, pistachio and almond cake with rose water cream.

This is from my new favorite cookbook “Persiana”. You can buy a copy by following this link.. Trust me, it will soon be your favorite cookbook too.

The cake is so easy to make and so delicious, I made it 4 times in the first two weeks of discovering the recipe

Now that was all so delicious I may have to make it all again next weekend with another lot of wonderful people. Don’t just make the effort on Mother’s Day, nothing lasts forever so make time to spend time with people you love…and always include great food!
