When I cook for clients, I often get asked to provide all day event catering, providing breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea (and sometimes event dinner too) for my clients.
I am often asked to cater for film and photoshoots where my clients are working long days, so it is paramount to keep the team happy when they are spending 16+ hours a day together. What better way to keep people’s energy and focus totally tip top than feeding them with the highest quality, nutritious, energy boosting food.
Top Tips for All Day Event Catering
Eat Your Vegetables
I know we have all heard of our “5 a day” but when you are tired it is so easy to reach for the sugar instant relief snacks, but these just keep you coming back for more with their empty calories and the hard sugar crash. Eating fruit and vegetables are a great source of vitamins and minerals, they contribute to a healthy diet and can reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes. They also taste great!
Drink Lots of Liquids
And not just coffee! We are made up of 60% liquid so it is super important to keep your liquids topped up, dehydration can lead to lack of concentration, dizziness and increased tiredness.
For my catering jobs, I provide a range of herbal teas, iced tea, coffee and lots of water. I also love giving people freshly prepared juices from Juicee Beets , they really help give you all of your feel good vitamins and minerals and also keeps your fluids topped up.
Eat The Rainbow
Eating a wide range of colours in your diet assures that you are getting as many vitamins and minerals as possible and filling your bellies with vegetables will help prevent the afternoon slump.
More to Life than Sandwiches
I know we all love a good sandwich, who doesn’t? But the sandwich was created for times when eating a proper meal was difficult (ie train journeys, picnics or the like) If you are on set then variety really is the spice of life! Giving my clients a wide variety of food to eat that fills their bellies and makes them feel great really makes me happy, you can please people without playing the safe sandwich card. I think it is safe to say that we have all eaten enough cheese and pickle sandwiches to last a lifetime
I love providing freshly baked cakes and seeded maple syrup flapjacks with my afternoon tea. I also think it is important to provide charcuterie, frittata, cheese selections and hummus with crudites for my afternoon tea. No sleep inducing carb and sugar overloads here. Life is all about about balance, and who doesn’t love a sweet treat in the afternoon, but making sure people are not too stodged out really helps give people the push for the last few hours working.
All of my food is home made, seasonal, I use the best ingredients and organic where possible!
